UNIT #12 GETTING AWAY
VOCAABULARY PHRASES WITH GO AND GET
SO DO I // NEITHER DO I
"So do I" and "Neither do I" are expressions that serve to show agreement with what someone is saying. In addition to the fact that they often appear in formal exams, it is important to know them in order to communicate on a day-to-day basis.
If you wanted to agree with an opinion like the following, indicating that you feel the same way, how would you say:
"I really hate cauliflower".
There are several options: "Me too" , "I agree with you" or "So do I".
And what happens when the sentence is negative?
"I don't like cauliflower at all".
Signaling agreement with a negative statement is a bit more complicated. You can say: "I agree with you", but not "Me too". However, we can use "Neither do I".
